Norm Roberts and the Red Storm have begun the process of restocking their backcourt. The head coach of the men's basketball team announced today the signing of Quincy Roberts, a 6-foot-5 combo guard from Harrisburg, Pa. This announcement comes just over a week after one that declared guards Mike Cavataio and Larry Wright were transferring from St.
Norm Roberts announced Wednesday that he received the Red Storm's second signed National Letter of Intent of the off-season. After signing combo guard Quincy Roberts on Tuesday, the men's basketball head coach introduced another high school guard to the Red Storm faithful: 6-foot-4 Kentucky All-State TyShwan Edmondson.
The theme for Red Storm basketball next year will be "new." There'll be a new Carnesecca Arena and a new backcourt. But the one thing that isn't changing is the head coach. Director of Athletics Chris Monasch announced the renewal of Norm Roberts' contract on Friday.
"It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage." And it certainly has been quite a bit of mileage since we last saw Indiana Jones romp through jungles, temples and so on. But just like an old car with plenty of mileage, it just does not drive like it used to.
The time has finally arrived for rabid "Sex and the City" fans to get their fill of new SATC material. "Megafans" have scoured message boards, leaving their thoughts of what could happen in the film's tightly-lipped plot. Others have desperately stayed away from any spoiler-material.
Torch: Can you describe the process of the film's production? Michael Patrick King: "First of all, it starts with the megafan, because that was the first thing that was in my head when I started to write. I was like: the fans. And that was the first voice I had to quiet because I think they're so smart and so present.
When Jon Favreau announced Robert Downey Jr. would be portraying billionaire playboy and self-built superhero, Iron Man, many questioned the decision. Did he have the swagger? Could he even pull off being a superhero in general? "Iron Man" has landed and the doubts have been put to rest: Robert Downey Jr.
The annual Spring Concert, known as Radio Ready 2008, ended with a soulful ride as R&B artist Keyshia Cole gave her St. John's fans a performance to remember. The chant of "Keyshia, Keyshia!" erupted in the audience as hundreds of fans waited impatiently for her stage arrival.
Since you last saw this column, there were two events that were dominant within the entertainment industry: the release of Grand Theft Auto IV and the publication of Miley Cyrus' Vanity Fair photographs. My point is not to talk up Grand Theft Auto (though I could easily turn this into a weekly GTA blotter) or to judge Miley Cyrus.
